Hack n Slash Prototype
A downloadable game
Fast paced survival arcade hack n slash game idk.
This is a prototype used to test the gameplay and its mechanics, nothing else. The art and music are not mine. The menu is pretty janky but will be improved later on. I'd greatly appreciate your feedback so if you want to, please take the survey after you've played the game,
Warning:
Do not fiddle with the sound effects settings if you value your ears. I am aware that it increases the volume of the block sound effect by a lot and will fix it in the future.
What the game will be in the future:
Fast paced character action/hack n' slash game, basically like Ninja Gaiden Black. It is not a survival arcade game where you try to live as long as possible, that's just how the prototype is.
Default Keyboard Controls:
- WASD = Move, also navigates the menu
- F = Interacts with the menu
- W = Jump
- Spacebar + W/D = Roll
- Left Shift = Block
- Left Click = Normal Attack
- Right Click = Other Attack
Default Gamepad Controls:
- Left Thumbstick = Move, also navigates the menu
- A/Cross = Interacts with the menu
- Up on Left Thumbstick = Jump
- B/Circle + Left Thumbstick in the left or right direction = Roll
- LT/L2 = Block
- X/Square = Normal Attack
- Y/Triangle = Other Attack

About the game:
This is the first game I have made and I'm making it on my own, but unfortunately not from scratch. Doing this just as a hobby. I followed Heartbeast's Youtube series for the Hack n Slash series, which I highly recommend checking out. The art assets are also from Heartbeast's tutorial. Also followed FriendlyCosmonaut's tutorial for making a menu. The music is also not mine, I got it from Helltaker(Vitality) and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r](Sound of Night Wind). Everything besides the gameplay is just placeholders for now. The options menu works ok but I am not worrying about that right now as the gameplay is what is most important to me. Feel free to test the options out but I am aware of the amount of bugs in them which I will fix later on. Remappable inputs works, but is not fully polished yet as some text just says numbers for the input. Controller also works well I think, can connect it, disconnect it, and connect it again without having to restart the game.
What is already implemented but needs art assets:
Block break, more combos, and weapon swapping.
What is implemented but was scrapped and will be revisited:
Projectiles, and charged attacks.

Install instructions
1. Download the "idkwhattonameit.zip"
2. Unzip/extract the "idkwhattonameit.zip"
3. Go into the "idkwhattonameit" folder and inside there is a folder called "gamefiles"
4. Go into the "gamefiles" folder
5. Launch the HackNSlashNewInput.exe
